1. As of October 1, 2009, in compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, certain Labs changed their method of accounting for the allele value of Y-chromosome marker, Y-GATA-H4.1. All the previous allele values, previously defined by certain DNA laboratories, for marker Y-GATA-H4.1, were reduced by ten (-10).

2. For the purposes the characteristic allele marker values we are using the current FTDNA convention.  For comparisons of Ancestry.com or other databases, allele values for four specific markers need to be converted from Ancestry.com format. Adjustments from the Ancestry.com values to the FTDNA values of DYS441 deduct 1; to DYS442 deduct 5; to Y-GATA-A10 deduct 2; and to Y-GATA-H4 deduct 1.
